Rapid Metro is also known as the second metro system which serves Gurgaon. The yellow line of the Delhi Metro also crosses through the city of Gurgaon. It is operated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). This Metro connects with the mercantile areas of Gurgaon in India. This Metro has limited operational hours. The owner of Gurgaon Rapid Metro is IL&FS Transportation Network Ltd. This Metro provides fare charges at reasonable prices to the passengers for traveling between Phase 1 and Phase 2.
Passengers can use tokens and metro cards to travel on this Metro. The Rapid Metro can also be denoted as the superhero of the city because it helps people easily cross and move its kilometer route quickly. This metro line has its own route, which connects it to other stations. The Haryana government has also decided to extend the routes of this Rapid Metro from its present northern terminals at Delhi Gurgaon Border to Sohna.
The extension of Rapid Metro can add approximately 5 stations and 18 kilometers to its line. Rapid Metro Fare Charge (Ticket Prices)
Fare charges on Rapid Metro are actually calculated on dependent on types, and distance traveled:
- Tokens, which is a good choice for single-journey
- Minimum Fare is Rs. 20 and Maximum is Rs. 35
- Value card/Smart card is a good choice for multiple journeys
This card is present for Rs. 150, which contains a refundable Rs. 50 charge. Passengers can add the amounts multiple times, starting from Rs. 100 to a maximum of Rs. 3000. This card is valid for approx. 10 years from the time of recharge or purchase.
- Tourist Card
- Single Day – It costs Rs. 150, which includes a Rs. 50 security deposit.
- 3 Day – It costs Rs. 300, which includes a Rs. 50 security deposit.
Rapid Metro Rolling Stocks
- The Rapid Metro will be built in accordance with EN50121, ISO3095, and ISO3381 standards to minimize the radiation of electromagnetic and noise produced by vehicles.
- The train will have the ability to carry 1,010 passengers in a three-car formation set and will move with a speed of 90km/hour.
- All the cars will have an operating life of 30 years. They are set up with compressed air conditioner units that will help fix the inside temperature, which will depend on passenger flow.

About Rapid Metro
Rapid Metro is one of the fastest metro lines, serving Gurgaon and the cities in Gurgaon. Rapid Metro began its operation on 14 November 2013. People use this transportation system to visit their workplaces or to explore the cities in Gurgaon. It was constructed by Rapid Metro Gurgaon Limited, also known as (RMGL). This system was the first fully privately financed advanced light Metro. In the beginning, it was planned to open in 2012, but the first phase system was launched in 2013. After this the second phase starts its commercial operation on 31 March in the year 2017.
In September 2019, the IL&FS group gave a notification that it did not have the resources to keep running Rapid Metro because of some financial problems with the organization. They were looking for new authority to donate and cease the revenue reserve. After a short argument with the Haryana government and a court judgment from the Haryana and Punjab high court, The Delhi Metro took over the running operational line from IL&FS. Rapid Metro serves 11 stations with a total length of 12.85 kilometers. This metro system is fully dignified by utilizing criterion scale tracks.
In this Metro, the power is supplied by 750 volts in direct current passing the third rail. The Rapid Metro operates daily from 6:05 AM to 10:00 PM and runs with a headway of every four minutes. This Metro was the first in India to auction naming rights for their stations. The Rapid Metro project was executed as a public-private partnership. All the project costs were paid for by a private party. The private party also starts off with the operation and maintenance of the Metro at its own cost.
