Ibrahim Lodhi was the last emperor of Lodhi dynasty and was defeated under  Mughal ruler Babur at the Battle of Panipat. The garden area underwent extensive enhancements for the purpose determined by the rulers. Akbar, the third Mughal emperor, used the park as an observatory and a record-keeping amenity.
