Airport (T3) Metro Station Information
On 18th September 2018, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the extension of the Delhi Airport metro line, which now connects with the Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 station. This extension adds up to 2km to the Airport Line, which improves the urban connectivity. While this inauguration was going on, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a ride on the metro from Dhaula Kuan to the newly constructed station, and he also interacted with passengers on his journey.
This new station will not only serve as a connection to the (IICC) which is the India International Convention and Expo Centre, but also develop connectivity for residents in Dwarka Sector 25 and with those sectors present in their neighborhood along the Dwarka Expressway. After the section of this metro station opened, the Delhi metro station network now covers 393 km, which consists of 288 stations. The airport express line's operational speed has increased to about 120km/h, which decreases travel times.
The DMRC has also launched a cashless ticketing option for passenger convenience. From our sources, we get to know that between the New Delhi Railway station and Delhi Airport, the Delhi Airport metro is about a 23 km long metro route, which is 16 km underground and 7 km elevated. The Delhi Airport Metro station lines have high-speed trains which travel at a speed of 90km/h. In order to enhance connectivity and short travel times, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation initiated a 130-meter-long pedestrian Subway in 2023.
It will amaze you to know that the domestic Delhi Airport metro station and arrival terminal 1 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport are connected by a recently constructed underground line. It is decorated and designed with unique artwork that shows the history of Delhi.
