Lajpat Nagar is an interchange station between the Violet and Pink lines in the Delhi Metro. It is located at Lajpat Nagar, among Jangpura and Moolchand, on the Violet Line. The first section of this station of the Violet Line was inaugurated on October 3, 2010—a day that coincided with the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony. It started to work as an interchange station from the day the Pink Line began to roll on August 6, 2018. The Violet Line station is elevated, but the Pink Line station is underground. However, people do not have to leave the paid zone to transfer between two lines as it is very well integrated.
