Pink Main Line Metro
The pink main line is operated by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation DMRC. This metro line comprises 35 active stations and is a rapid transit system. The pink line of the Delhi metro is approximately 59 km long and connects the northwest to the northeast of Delhi, making it the longest metro line in the Delhi metro. This line has about 12 underground and 26 elevated stations.
The DMRC is also going to extend the pink line, which will be in phases. The project consists of the expansion of 65.10 km of new metro lines, and 28 new stations are going to be added, with a cost price of Rs. 35,000 crore. The Azadpur metro station, present in northeast Delhi, is set to become the triple point in 2023. This station will mainly connect the pink main line, the yellow line, and the upcoming phase 4 RK Ashram Marg β Janakpuri West metro corridor.
The construction work on the three main corridors of Delhi Metro Phase 4 goes from Inderlok to Indraprastha, Rithala to Bawana, and Lajpat Nagar to Saket. The extension of the Pink main line will be completed by the End of 2025, even though the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has been awarded for the construction of the Pink line extension for the association of three companies. There is a foot-over bridge that connects the Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus metro station, which connects with the Pink Line route.
The DMRC also inaugurated the first halt station at Punjabi Bagh West metro station on 29th March 2022; the station will provide an interchange facility between the green and pink main lines of the Delhi metro rail network. Earlier, there was no halt station available while crossing the metro lines, but now the DMRC has developed the facility of a halt station that connects two operational corridors at the present time.
Lastly, the pink main line provides safe and comfortable facilities to commuters who always use the metro for daily traveling, even though there are facilities provided for physically challenged people on this metro line. There are cafes, restaurants, shopping malls, ATMs, and parks connected to this metro line.
